An operational and mobilization training course of Space Troops commanders was launched Monday at the Titov Main Spacecraft Test and Control Center in the town of Krasnoznamensk, Moscow Region, a spokesman for the Space troops headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

Space Troops Commander Anatoly Perminov is in charge of the course while generals, Perminov's staff officers, chiefs-of-staff and heads of unit and formation services, as well as heads of cosmodromes and colleges are to undergo the training course.

Comprehensive tasks of maintaining combat readiness of the troops, exercising control over their daily activities and complying with standard safety regulations are to be assigned to the participants in the course.

Chiefs and commanders of all levels are to realize and employ the experience they gathered in the course of building up and developing the troops, as well as to improve training and control skills, Perminov said at the opening ceremony. A special emphasis should be put on perfecting professional qualities of servicemen of launching detachments, spacecraft flight control units and space defense formations.

An expanded session of the Space Troops Military Council will be held in the wake of the course in order to identify main aspects of the control bodies and troops in 2002.
