US conglomerate General Electric said Monday it will invest up to 50 million dollars in environmental research and development in China over the next five years
The deal will see it cooperate with the country's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to develop advanced environmental technologies, a GE statement said.
According to the memorandum of understanding, GE will provide advanced technologies to China in fields such as cleaner coal, wind energy, regional aviation, advanced locomotive development, desalination, and lighting.
It will provide management and training to up to 2,500 Chinese.
Under a separate agreement, GE said it had formed a cleaner technology collaboration with Tsinghua University, under which the Beijing-based university will provide research to GE in China and around the world.
