Exigent's subsidiary Software Technology, Inc. (STI) has been awarded a contract by the University of South Australia for the configuration and delivery of COTS ground software for the FedSat satellite project.
FedSat is a research satellite developed by the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Satellite Systems. The satellite is expected to be launched late next year and will carry communications, computing, navigation, public interest and space science payloads.
The University of South Australia is one of the Centre's core participants and part of its role is responsibility for the mission's main ground station.
"Our industry survey concluded that STI's ground software products offered exceptional capability at low cost." said Jeff Kasparian, a Business Operations Manager with the University, "The flexibility of OS/COMET Solo and SIM/Tool is allowing STI to quickly deliver a system that we can maintain ourselves."
The scope of STI's work includes configuring its command and control product, OS/COMET Solo, and its Pluto Satellite Simulator, to monitor, control, and simulate the FedSat spacecraft. Delivery of Pluto is contingent on approval from the Department of State.
Dan Flynn, STI's Vice President for Commercial Programs, said "OS/COMET Solo is allowing us to offer constellation proven command and control at a price affordable to universities and other research centers. STI is configuring and delivering two OS/COMET Solo installations and a simulator at a very economical price."
