U.S. technology leader Communications Test Design and Brazil's Network UNO are pooling their expertise and resources to explore the burgeoning communications and information technology markets in Latin America.
Demand for IT with all its security implications has soared as the region's economies expand with a global commodity trade boom, generating demand for technological applications in a range of sectors from banking and finance to government and trade.
Communications Test Design, Inc., the world's largest independent communications repair and logistics provider, said its new joint venture will be called CTDI do Brasil and will have the Brazilian Network UNO as its partner. Network UNO has headquarters in Sao Paulo.
The new company will have headquarters in Campinas, Sao Paulo, and will provide telecommunications carriers and original equipment customers in Brazil with CTDI's full range of products and services.
The CTDI range includes wireline and wireless repair and logistics, engineering and network deployment services, telecom product engineering and manufacturing, IT system integration and customer premises equipment repair including set-top boxes and modems.
CTDI Vice President of International Business Dave Burt said: "Latin America, particularly Brazil, is a rapidly growing market for telecommunications products and services. Because of Network UNO's strong position as a leading supplier of fixed, mobile and data communications equipment and service throughout the region, they are the perfect partner to help CTDI continue to expand our global service portfolio."
CTDI services telecommunications carriers and original equipment manufacturers through 45 international repair and logistics locations including facilities in the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, India and Mexico.
Rodrigo Abreu, director of sales and marketing and one of the founders of Network UNO, said he was optimistic about the outlook for the joint venture.
"The global resources of CTDI will enable us to better serve the needs of telecommunications operators and OEMs by addressing their continuously evolving engineering, logistics, repair and products supply needs," he said.
CTDI do Brasil's executive leadership includes Abreu and the company's other two founders — Juliano Miyake, director of operations and finance, and Franklin Tomich, supply chain director.
CTDI do Brasil's modern facility in Campinas includes a repair laboratory to service multivendor wireless, wireline and data communications equipment. Set-top box refurbishment, repair and screening and logistics services related to the pay television market are expected to be fast-growth areas for the company, a CTDI news release said.
CTDI has headquarters in West Chester, Pa., and has provided maintenance and product service solutions to the global communications industry since 1975. CTDI offers product engineering and manufacturing, wireline and wireless repair and logistics, engineering and installation services and global supply chain solutions.
The company serves its customers from 45 locations and employs more than 5,000 people.
