Three Israeli soldiers were killed Monday in clashes with Hezbollah around the flashpoint southern Lebanese border town of Bint Jbeil, the army said.

An earlier toll had given one killed and three other soldiers wounded in the fighting around the Hezbollah military stronghold, a spokesman said.

Two of the soldiers were killed by an anti-tank rocket, an army spokesman said.

The deaths brought to 61 the number of Israeli soldiers killed since the capture of two soldiers in a deadly Hezbollah raid on July 12 that triggered the offensive on Lebanon.
