Andover MA (SPX) Aug 02, 2006 WSI Corp. announced Monday that NASA has ordered 18 WSI InFlight AV300 next-generation systems to equip a portion of the Johnson Space Center T-38N astronaut trainer/proficiency aircraft fleet. NASA will take delivery of the current WSI InFlight AV200 systems for installation in the fleet followed by replacement AV300s when available later this year. The WSI InFlight system uses satellite technology to broadcast the most accurate, up-to-date weather and related mission-critical information continuously to any aircraft equipped with the WSI InFlight antenna and receiver. WSI InFlight, named one of Research and Development Magazine's Top 100 Innovations in 2003, delivers the industry's highest quality radar mosaic, WSI NOWrad, directly to the cockpit, the company said in a news release. WSI InFlight builds on the strength of WSI's Pilotbrief service, used daily by thousands of aviation professionals in corporate flight departments, FBOs, major and regional airlines, and FAA Flight Service Stations. In 2006, WSI Pilotbrief was voted the #1 weather briefing service in Professional Pilot magazine's annual reader poll for the eighth year in a row. "NASA has chosen to add enhanced weather avoidance capabilities to the T-38 to assist this nation's astronaut program," said Jim Menard, general manager of WSI's Aviation Business Group.
