Mirabilis Ventures announced its acquisition of the transportable earth station (TES) operations of Chameleon Communications, marking Mirabilis' presence in the satellite transmission arena.

Headquartered in Clearwater, Florida, Chameleon Communications enables numerous companies, studios and major media outlets to broadcast their audio and video transmissions worldwide through satellite links.

The company's client base includes government and education entities, including NASA, State of Kentucky and the State of Missouri School Board Association. Additionally, the organization provides satellite uplink support and news services for major networks and cable stations, including ESPN, CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox.

The company also played a major role in broadcasting news from within the hurricane devastation in Florida and Louisiana as well as support the last presidential election broadcast.

"The addition of the earth station operations strengthens Mirabilis' expansion into the satellite communications industry," said Buddy Winsett, President of Mirabilis' Broadcast Communications Portfolio. "Additionally, these capabilities provide us with a viable outlet for broadcasting newsworthy events as well as conducting video conferencing over satellite airwaves."
