Winter Solstice Just Three Weeks Away For Spirit
Pasadena CA (SPX) Apr 28, 2010
Spirit remains silent at her location called "Troy" on the west side of Home Plate. No communication has been received from the rover since Sol 2210 (March 22, 2010). It is likely that Spirit has experienced a low-power fault and has powered off all sub-systems, except her master clock. The rover will use the available solar array energy to recharge her batteries. When the batteries recover to a sufficient state of charge, Spirit will wake up and begin to communicate. When that does happen, ... read more

Third Phoenix Listening Period Begins Monday
Pasadena CA (JPL) Apr 05, 2010
From April 5 through April 9, NASA's Mars Odyssey orbiter will conduct a third campaign to check whether the Phoenix Mars Lander has come back to life after experiencing a Martian arctic winter it was not designed to survive. The orbiter received no signal from the solar-powered lander during two listening campaigns earlier this year. While Odyssey listens for Phoenix during 60 overf ... more

Opportunity For A Twin Crater Drive By
Pasadena CA (JPL) Apr 05, 2010
On Sol 2193 (March 26, 2010), Opportunity drove about 68 meters (223 feet) towards a pair of highly eroded craters. On the next sol, the rover performed a drive-by imaging of the twin craters, covering about 55 meters (180 feet). Further driving next to the twin craters was performed on Sol 2197 (March 30, 2010), getting a good look inside, with the rover covering about 30 meters (98 feet) ... more
