NASA Launches Interactive Simulation Of Satellite Communications
Moffett Field CA (SPX) Mar 10, 2010
NASA has unveiled an interactive computer simulation that allows virtual explorers of all ages to dock the space shuttle at the International Space Station, experience a virtual trip to Mars or a lunar impact, and explore images of star formations taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. In an effort to excite young people about space and NASA's missions, the agency has launched the online Space Communication and Navigation (SCaN) simulation, designed to entertain and educate. Port-Au-Prince (AFP) Feb 26, 2010
Haiti's prime minister Friday approved a plan to urge those left homeless by last month's quake to leave squalid camps and return to their destroyed neighborhoods if possible, officials said. But the plan faces major hurdles, with residents at one of the largest camps - in the Champ de Mars park across from the ravaged National Palace - warning they will not be able to go back to their rub ... more

More Silence From Phoenix
Pasadena CA (JPL) Feb 25, 2010
NASA's Mars Odyssey began a second campaign Monday to check on whether the Phoenix Mars Lander has revived itself after the northern Martian winter. Detecting Our Martian Cousins
Moffett Field CA (SPX) Feb 17, 2010
The iguanas of the Galapagos Islands have evolved many unique characteristics due to their isolation from mainland iguanas. Because they can't swim long distances, biologists believe that the first Galapagos iguanas arrived on natural rafts made from vegetation. The same thing may have happened across the ocean of space. Some researchers speculate that life on Mars - if there is any - may be composed of "island species" that were carried away from Earth on interplanetary meteorites. Or perha ... read more
