Mars Millennium Project Kicks Off Its Second Year!

Bring Mars Alive

Washington - October 8, 2000
In case you havent heard, the Mars Millennium Project is continuing for a second year. Theres still time to get your project on the microchip for launch on a future NASA mission. The second year project submission deadline is June 1, 2001.

Participation guides can be downloaded from the Web site www.mars2030.net or can be ordered with the NEA Windows on Mars video from Ed Pubs by calling 1-800-USA-LEARN (1-800-872-5327).

If you live in Hawaii, Utah, Wyoming, Houston or the District of Columbia on Mars, and would like to participate in the Mars Millennium Project, we want to hear from you.

Whether your project is finished, in progress or about to get off the ground, let us know who you are and what youre doing. We want to showcase your projects at events nationwide.

We are interested in projects completed in the first year, as well as ongoing or completed projects from the current year. Please provide a short overview of your project, including grade level of participants, number of participants and length and scope of the project to Mark Sierak by November 1, 2000 at [email protected].

There are currently more than 500 completed projects in the Virtual Gallery from the first year, and we look forward to seeing more of these inspired creations now that were in our second year. Newly completed projects will be posted in the Virtual Gallery soon. Yours should be too.

Upcoming Opportunities

There are several exciting Mars Millennium Project opportunities in the coming months:

For more information on the chats, please visit the Web site at www.mars2030.net
  • Conferences Look for the Mars Millennium Project traveling display at the U.S. Department of Educations "Improving Americas Schools" conferences in Louisville and Washington, D.C. and at the Partners in Education conference in Houston.
