MPs Attack British Space Program
London (UPI) Jun 09, 2005 British lawmakers, upset over the ill-fated Beagle 2 project, say the nation's space program is not being adequately monitored and rapped its risk management. The criticism came from the power Public Accounts Committee in the lower House of Commons. It said the Beagle 2 project was doomed from the start, Sky News reported. The British-built Beagle 2 vanished on its way to Mars in 2003. The committee said the project had "no real prospect of success." The government has spent more than $300 million on space-related activities in the past two years. The committee said the various government departments that run the space program must improve their risk management.
